Andi on Adventure – in the beginning
Many, many years ago, I fell in love with travel while doing my 4-month college internship in Japan. After graduation, I knew I’d never survive a “normal” 9-5 job. So, I discovered the wonderful world of aviation and spent years taking advantage of the freedom of flying for free! I was addicted!
Many Years later
In 2013, I quit my job in aviation sales, rented out my condo and got rid of my “stuff”. Then I left my life in the US to start over. I didn’t know where and I wasn’t sure how, but I knew I didn’t ever want to regret NOT trying something new.
Where to? Kenya? Ghana? India? Vietnam? The possibilities were endless.
I settled on Hanoi, Vietnam and spent three months as a volunteer teaching English to high school students. This experience allowed me to get over my total fear of public speaking because I knew I had to teach to survive. Speaking English was my only real skill!
It wasn’t an easy road, but through all the stress, fear, and uncertainty of starting over, I hung on to the wise words of Steve Jobs:
“…you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something — your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever.”
I followed my intuition and trusted that it would all work out in the end. After turning down job offers from China, I considered Korea, Cambodia, and Thailand before I stumbled into my new life in Taiwan.
Taiwan was good to me but after four years I knew it was time to move on to a new life – in Nice, France!
Encouraging adventure! I’ll share travel experiences and expat life in France. I hope my stories will entertain you and inspire you to get out there and embrace the adventure of life!
“We live in a wonderful world that is full of beauty, charm, and adventure. There is no end to the adventures we can have if only we seek them with our eyes open.”
